Me + Peter Max
I love colour! From a very early age you could find me exploring the full palette of my box of crayons, spending my time colouring, as a way to express my creativity.
One of my very favourite artists, is the prolific pop artist Peter Max. I have been a big fan since I first discovered his work while I was growing up in the ’60s. His colours speak to me. Back in 2002, I had the privilege of meeting him at a gallery when he visited Toronto. The almost unbelievable result of that day, became the inspiration for the chapter “Take it to The Max” in my book Confessions of a Middle-Aged Hippie.
It felt very important to me to have the opportunity to reconnect with him and actually hand him an inscribed copy of the book, as a way of thanking him for the amazing experience and the story it became. Especially as we both have been very influenced by the cosmos in our lives.
The opportunity did manifest and was so much grander than I could have imagined, so of course the story of it resulted in me writing about it in “Books, Bucket Lists and the Artist Peter Max“. This time I got pictures too. This picture of me and Peter Max, even ended up in his online gallery.
Love creating new stories and memories this way!
